Ian Phillips is a well-known local printmaker. His work specialises in portraying the wild landscape and seascapes of Wales, with a current emphasis on Eryri and the Nort Wales coast.

 

Ian has been printing for over thirty years and the subject matter for these prints, the start point of his whole process, has been a walk with a sketchbook so following the route of a pilgrimage along the North Wales coast is a perfect fit.

 

Ian plans to walk the route, dividing it up into two sections, with the aim of immersing himself in the experience of the pilgrimage as much as possible. While walking he will draw the coastline he walks along, the people he sees and the places he passes through. These will then be turned into a consecutive series of woodcut prints, taking the viewer along the route and hopefully inspiring more people to walk it themselves.
